Superseded version, archived for reference. These are the Referral Program Terms version 2.0, which applied from 27 September 2026 until they were superseded by version 3.0 on 15 October 2026. They are published here unchanged, so anyone can read the rules that applied to them during that period. These are not the current rules. See the current Referral Program Terms.
Urban Pulse Referral Program Terms
Last updated: 27 September 2026 Version: 2.0 Effective from: 27 September 2026
Plain English: Refer another business to Urban Pulse and, once it starts paying, you earn 25% of what it pays Urban Pulse for its first twelve months, up to A$25,000 a calendar year. You need to be on a paid plan to earn. There is no minimum. If you have added bank details, we pay your rewards to your bank account once a week. If you have not, your rewards are applied as account credit to your next Urban Pulse invoice. A refund or chargeback of a referred payment does not cancel or reduce a genuine reward, though payment may be paused while a review is completed, and we never take money back out of your bank account. These are the program rules referred to in our Terms of Service (section 3.4). A referral reward is a marketing incentive for introducing a member. Where a plain-English note summarises a rule, the numbered clause governs if the two differ.
1. Who can earn
1.1 You can earn referral rewards if you are an Urban Pulse member with an active paid subscription in good standing. Sharing your link is free and open to any member; earning a reward requires a paid plan, as set out in section 3.3.
1.2 The reward is for members of the network introducing other people in the trade. It is not a paid-affiliate or coupon-arbitrage scheme. We do not pay coupon sites, content publishers, ad-arbitrage pages, or anyone buying sign-ups off-platform. Only share your link with people who know you and would want to hear from you. Do not send bulk or unsolicited messages, which breach the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and these rules.
2. What counts as a referral
2.1 A referral counts when a genuinely new customer business, which was not already an Urban Pulse customer, signs up through your referral link or by entering your code, and then starts a paid plan.
2.2 One referrer per member. Which referral counts is settled when the new member verifies their email address:
- (a) if they sign up with their email address and bring a referral code, through a referral link or by typing it in (if they did both, the typed code is used), that code counts, as long as they verify their email address within 30 days of signing up;
- (b) otherwise, including where the code they bring is not a current referral code or is their own, a referral code saved when that same email address joined our waitlist counts. The waitlist keeps only the first valid code saved for an email address, and a later code does not replace it; and
- (c) once a referral is recorded for a member, a later link or code does not replace it.
2.3 You cannot refer yourself, your own organisation, or an organisation you control or are connected to. Referrals that fail our anti-abuse checks (see section 8) do not earn a reward.
3. What you earn
3.1 You earn 25% of what a business you referred pays Urban Pulse, for twelve months from its first paid invoice. There is a single rate for every referral and for every member: no tiers, no rate that steps down after a set number of referrals, and no separate founding-member rate.
3.2 The twelve months begin at the referred business's first paid invoice. They do not begin when it signs up, starts a trial or creates an account, and a later plan change or a cancel and return does not restart them. If it joins and stays on a free plan, nothing is earned; if it takes a paid plan later, your twelve months start at that first paid invoice.
3.3 Eligibility at the time of each payment. A payment earns you a reward only if, when that payment reaches us, you have an active paid subscription in good standing. A trial, a complimentary (comped) account and an account with an overdue payment do not qualify, so a payment that reaches us while your account is in one of those states earns no reward. Rewards you have already earned stay payable if you later move to a lower or free plan.
3.4 The reward is calculated on the subscription amount the referred business actually pays, excluding any taxes, and is recorded in your account in Australian dollars.
4. How and when you are paid
4.1 There is no minimum amount, and you do not need to ask for a payment. If you have added bank details, we pay your earned rewards to your bank account once a week.
4.2 Bank or account credit. If you have added bank details on your referrals page, we pay your rewards to that Australian bank account by bank transfer. If you have not, your rewards are applied as account credit to your next Urban Pulse invoice. The credit is added when that invoice is prepared, so it follows your own billing cycle rather than the weekly bank payment, and any credit left over comes off the invoices after it. You choose by adding bank details or not; you can add them at any time, and any balance not yet applied as credit is then paid to your bank in the next weekly bank payment. If you have no bank details and no Urban Pulse invoice to apply credit to, your balance stays in your account until you add bank details or have an invoice to apply it to.
4.3 Bank processing times are outside our control, so we do not promise when a transfer arrives in your account.
4.4 Returned payments. If your bank returns a payment, the amount goes back to your referral balance and we try again in the next weekly bank payment. If it is returned a second time, we hold it and ask you to update your bank details. Once you do, we pay it in the next weekly bank payment. A returned payment is never forfeited.
4.5 To be paid to a bank account you need to give us your ABN, or tick the statement by a supplier if you are not carrying on a business.
4.6 Rewards you have earned do not expire. The twelve months in section 3 limit which payments earn a reward, not how long an earned reward stays payable.
4.7 The reward is personal to you and is paid only to your own bank account or your own Urban Pulse bill. We do not pay a reward to a third-party or shared account.
5. The cap
5.1 One referrer may earn no more than A$25,000 in a calendar year (1 January to 31 December) across every referral, counted by the date of each referred payment (Sydney time). The payment that reaches the cap earns only the remaining amount, and nothing above the cap carries forward. Almost no genuine referrer reaches it; it exists as a backstop against organised abuse and to keep the program clearly a marketing incentive rather than an income stream. We may review the ceiling and will give notice of any change. The ceiling in force when a referral converts applies to that referral.
6. Refunds and chargebacks
6.1 A refund, in full or in part, of a payment made by a business you referred, or a chargeback of that payment, does not cancel or reduce a reward that is genuine.
6.2 While a referred payment is refunded or disputed, or a referral is under review, Urban Pulse may pause payment of your rewards to your bank account and the application of your rewards as account credit until the review is complete. Rewards you have earned remain on your balance while payment is paused.
6.3 Urban Pulse may withhold or reverse a reward that is not genuine, including a reward arising from fraud or a breach of these Terms, under section 8.
6.4 Urban Pulse never takes money back from your bank account.
7. Staying eligible
7.1 You keep earning while you have an active paid subscription in good standing (section 3.3). If you move to a free plan, a trial or a complimentary account, or a payment on your account is overdue, new rewards stop until your account qualifies again.
7.2 A reward you have already earned is yours, subject only to section 6 and the anti-abuse checks in section 8. Leaving does not forfeit rewards you have already earned.
8. Keeping it fair (anti-abuse)
8.1 We run checks for self-referral, connected entities, duplicate or artificial sign-ups, and unusual patterns, for example many sign-ups sharing the same device, network address, or payment method. Where a pattern needs review, we may hold a reward while we check it, rather than pay it and reverse it later.
8.2 We may withhold or reverse a reward, and remove a member from the program, for referrals that are not genuine, that breach these rules, or that involve off-platform paid promotion.
9. Your reward is personal
9.1 Referral rewards are personal to you. They cannot be transferred, assigned, sold, or pooled with anyone else. There is no secondary market in referral rewards.
10. Tax
10.1 A referral reward may be assessable income to you, whether it is paid to your bank or applied as account credit. You are responsible for your own tax, and we recommend you get your own advice.
10.2 If you are registered for GST, GST may apply to your reward, and we will account for it correctly.
11. How we describe it
11.1 We describe the program as a reward for introducing a member. It is not marketed as a yield, a guaranteed return, or passive income, and we ask that you do not describe it that way either when you share it.
12. What the reward is
12.1 A referral reward is a marketing incentive for introducing a member. It is not an investment, and it does not give you an interest in a scheme or a right to a return on an investment.
13. Changes to the program
13.1 We may change, pause, or end the program, or change these rules, on reasonable notice. Changes apply to referrals made after the change takes effect. A reward you have already earned is not affected.
13.2 These rules are being reviewed by our lawyers. If that review needs a change, we will update these rules, or pause or end the program, under section 13.1, and rewards you have already earned are not affected.
14. Contact
14.1 This program is run by Urban Pulse Strategies Pty Ltd (ABN 82 650 700 226), trading as Urban Pulse. These rules sit under, and should be read with, our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; the governing-law, variation, dispute-resolution and Australian Consumer Law provisions of our Terms of Service apply to them. Questions about the program: support@urbanpulse.com.au.
15. Changes to these rules
Version 2.0 (effective 27 September 2026) replaces version 1.1 and takes effect on publication. The previous version stays readable at version 1.1.
- Section 2.2 now sets out which referral counts: the code brought at an email sign-up (typed over link), or otherwise the first valid code saved when that email address joined our waitlist; a recorded referral is not replaced.
- Section 4 (previously "How the reward is applied") now pays rewards with no minimum: to your bank account once a week if you have added bank details, otherwise as account credit to your next Urban Pulse invoice. It adds how returned bank payments are retried, and that earned rewards do not expire.
- Section 6 (previously "Reversal") now sets out that a refund or chargeback of a referred payment does not cancel or reduce a genuine reward, that a reward that is not genuine may be withheld or reversed, that payment may be paused while a payment is refunded or disputed or a referral is under review, and that we never take money back from your bank account. The 90-day window is removed.
- Sections 1, 3.3 and 7 now require an active paid subscription in good standing when each referred payment reaches us; trials, complimentary accounts and overdue accounts do not qualify, and rewards already earned stay payable after a downgrade.
- Section 5 now states that the cap counts every referral by the date of each referred payment and does not carry forward. The cap remains A$25,000 per referrer per calendar year.
- Sections 10 and 12 now cover rewards paid to a bank account as well as account credit, and section 13.2 records that these rules are being reviewed by our lawyers.
Version 1.1 (effective 1 September 2026) set one flat rate of 25% for twelve months from the referred member's first paid invoice, applied rewards as account credit only, and set a 90-day reversal window. It is superseded by version 2.0.
